  …..how does your garden grow?

Well, some bits grow very well, over-enthusiastic climbers on the pergola, weeds, grass that constantly needs cutting and a pond that thinks its a lawn!  Some not so well, brocolli and cauliflower plants (from the open farm day), and lettuces - all of which have been attacked by something very hungry.  The strawberries are doing particularly well this year though, and the rhubarb always has a good crop (yum!!)  Even the courgette plants are looking good at the moment.

Yet to be planted are runner beans, and some leeks which will fill the gaps left by the eaten lettuces.

“And what a special day it was! 400 farms right across the country opened their gates and showed people around their farms on the 1st June. Farms of every type and size got involved and offered everything from simple farm walks and                                             tractor rides right through to ferret walking,                                        duck racing and worm charming!”IMG_1053

IMG_1046           Ok - so we didn’t see the last three, but we did see a leek harvester, brassica planter, a wind turbine and an extremely large combine harvester.  An interesting few hours and we even came away with some free broccoli and cauliflower plants!
