The Sky’s the Limit
October 20th, 2008Well actually the sky is the ultimate aim for this ongoing project - a huge kite, which may well take months to complete.
The first pieces were cut last weekend, after a trip to the Highwaymen to pick up acres (well it seems like it!) of kite fabric, and before that a couple of weeks deliberation on colour schemes. We had templates made from steel to make marking out, cutting and hemming easier, and now the first 20 of the 140 pieces needed have been cut out, marked and are awaiting hemming. Stephen has agreed to do all the cutting out and marking, as long as I do the sewing - much as I hate cutting out and marking, I can’t help wondering who drew the short straw on that one….
No doubt I will post photos on the progress of this project - call it Project DS (Double Star - the name of the kite) as we get on with it - these are the first two , not much to look at so far!
